Acute Care EMT Technician
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for providing pre-hospital emergency medical care, responding to medical emergencies, and transporting patients safely to healthcare facilities. This role involves rapid decision-making, life-saving interventions, and effective communication with medical teams to ensure optimal patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Emergency Response & Patient Care:
- Respond to emergency calls and provide immediate medical assistance.
- Assess patient conditions and determine appropriate emergency care procedures.
- Administer basic life support (BLS), including CPR, airway management, and wound care.
- Stabilize patients with trauma, cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, or other medical emergencies.
- Monitor vital signs and provide initial treatment before hospital admission.
Patient Transport & Safety:
- Safely transport patients to hospitals or medical facilities in ambulances.
- Ensure proper handling and movement of critically ill or injured patients.
- Communicate with emergency room staff to provide detailed reports on patient conditions.
Medical Equipment Handling:
- Operate and maintain emergency medical equipment such as defibrillators, oxygen tanks, and stretchers.
- Ensure all ambulance supplies are stocked and in working condition.
- Sanitize and maintain emergency equipment as per hospital and safety regulations.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate records of patient conditions, treatments, and interventions.
- Follow local, state, and hospital protocols for emergency medical services.
- Ensure adherence to infection control and safety guidelines.
Team Collaboration & Training:
- Work alongside paramedics, nurses, and emergency physicians in high-pressure situations.
- Assist in training programs for first responders and emergency teams.
- Participate in emergency drills and continuing education sessions.
